Key to our strategy is the urgent appointment of an experienced, field based Business Development Executive to help spearhead further growth within the Irish packaging market. The Business Development Executive Role
This is a field based sales role, covering a territory that will focus predominantly upon the Eastern Coast of Ireland. Regularly working out of our site in Newtonmountkennedy, County Wicklow, the successful candidate will not only need to be well located for territory coverage but also within less than a 1.5 hour drive from our site. Reporting into the Regional Business Manager this role will pro-actively lead on prospecting, direct marketing and appointment setting in order to build pipeline in relation to both new client acquisition and renewal of dormant & lapsed accounts. In addition this role will be working with existing customers to maximise their buying potential. Your success within this role will be defined by the amount of new/renewed business that is generated as well as retaining and growing the existing customer base on the territory.
 
 
Business Development Executive Key Responsibilities
  • Building strong product knowledge and using this expertise in order to understand customer needs.
  • To research and identify potential customers, prospecting to secure own appointments
  • Developing strong relationships with existing customers to grow and develop the accounts and manage their development. Maximising product penetration, and providing continuous improvement to their packaging needs.
  • Attending appointments to fact-find, identify needs & tailor solutions in a consultative manner for new customers / prospects.
  • Lead local marketing campaigns with support from Head Office
  • Actively contact all lapsed accounts to ensure opportunities are not missed
  • Initiate mailshots and follow up as relevant
  • Support the sales administration process, utilising the relevant systems including company CRM
  • Extensive reporting and analysis of customer data, using Excel spreadsheets to help track and identify new business opportunities. 
  • Working closely with the Data Analyst based at Macfarlane Head Office to undertake analysis of customers 
 
 
Do you have the correct profile?
Ideally, we are seeking someone who has a proven track-record of sales success within the Irish packaging arena. Packaging industry sales experience would be preferred, although we may also consider applicants with close affiliation and an understanding of selling on behalf of a major distributor. You will have spent time working successfully within a similar external/field based new business focused sales role and have a strong knowledge of the Irish market. You will be able to demonstrate that you are self-driven, tenacious, results-orientated and accustomed to ‘winning’ when it comes to new sales generation. Adept at market research and analysis, sales plan delivery, direct sales and marketing campaigns, you will enjoy the autonomy that such a well-rounded role can bring.
As this is predominantly field based, a fully valid driving licence is also essential.
