Logistics Supervisor role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Logistics Supervisor to join our business. Working as an integral part of our central logistics team, you will enjoy being hands-on in carrying out daily tasks as part of the wider team, but relish the increased responsibility of leading by example and supervising warehouse staff and drivers (plus occasional agency staff). You will directly support the national distribution centre in ensuring operational excellence. Our warehouse teams work 45 hours a week Monday-Friday.
 
Logistics Supervisor Key Duties
  • Providing instruction to and supervising performance of warehouse colleagues to ensure tasks are completed effectively and within required timescales  
  • Receive, inspect and unload supplier deliveries
  • Pick, load and dispatch goods
  • Receive and process customer/supplier returns
  • Stock-taking/inventory control
  • Deal with customers directly ensuring high standards of customer service at all times
  • Maintain company standards in line with O-license & Health & Safety procedure
  • Cost effective scheduling of deliveries to customers via Company vehicles or outside carriers to achieve a 24/48 hour delivery service (including route planning via use of Paragon software)
  • Ensuring paperwork is processed onto the system accurately and timely
 
Do you have the correct profile?
We welcome your application if you have experience of supervising logistics staff within a fast-paced distribution environment. You will be self-motivated and genuinely customer focused. Comfortable working within a team environment, with strong communication skills, you will be adaptable with a strong work ethic. We require you to have a solid grasp of tachograph regulation and EU driver hour’s legislation, as well as route planning (ideally using route planning software). You must also hold valid forklift license (ideally in both counterbalance and reach). You will be expected to act as a first-aider at work. (Please note where appropriate, training can be provided for First Aider, route planning & health & safety). First and foremost you will be an able and dependable logistics operative in your own right, not afraid to get your hands dirty, but also able to lead by example and motivate others to do a good job.
