Commercial Assistant Graduate role: Packaging Distribution

Macfarlane Group PLC is one of Europe’s leading Packaging distributors and we are seeking to hire a graduate commercial assistant role to provide support with a wide range of duties at our Irish site, encompassing elements of stock control and sales coordination. The Role
Working as part of the local procurement team, this role will support both the local site and company procurement strategy. Beyond that we are looking for someone who will be flexible and work as part of a team as there will also be a requirement to assist with some sales administration duties as and when required. This role is ideal for someone of graduate calibre who is keen to develop a career in packaging and gain an excellent grounding in all aspects of the wider business.
Key Duties
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Do you have the correct profile?
The successful candidate will ideally have prior experience of working within a purchasing/procurement team but it is not essential. You will have a strong eye for detail and accuracy, enjoy analysing & reviewing data, and have excellent organisation and communication skills, possessing the ability to work well under pressure whilst prioritising workloads effectively. You will also be enthusiastic, numerate, and a team player. You will be computer literate with a reasonable working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, MS Word and Outlook. - To purchase standard and non-standard stock items, maintaining cost effective stock levels.
- Liaise with existing suppliers and source alternative suppliers when necessary.
- Develop awareness of the profit implication of stock holding costs, including redundant and damaged stock.
- Work in partnership with the Logistic and Warehouse team to optimise stock holding volumes and ensure customer needs are met.
- Develop and maintain a good knowledge of all packaging solutions, sharing knowledge with other colleagues.
- Work in a constructive manner and promote co-operation between departments and across the group.
