Now part of the Macfarlane Group, we are seeking to urgently appoint an experienced Logistics Supervisor to take charge of our site operation in Leicester. Logistics Supervisor role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Logistics Supervisor to join our business.  We welcome applications from motivated and enthusiastic individuals who are genuinely customer focussed, team-players with good interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a flexible approach and strong work ethic. You will have full site management for the logistics operation, directly managing a small team of four people, responsible for ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day processes and procedures, overseeing all aspects of health & safety, warehouse operations (picking, packing), stock management & running of the delivery vehicles from site. Core hours are 7:30am-4:30pm across Monday to Friday but as with any busy supervisory role in distribution, flexibility is expected as required. Please note that this is an urgent vacancy whereby we do require someone to commence with us ASAP (certainly no later than early June). This represents an excellent opportunity for someone seeking the potential for increased responsibility and potential to develop further within a larger group structure longer term.


 
Logistics Supervisor Key Duties
  • Lead, motivate and develop the logistics team to ensure all duties are fulfilled to the required standards and within health and safety requirements
  • Ensure the on–time delivery (in good condition) of the correct product.
  • Responsibility for the receipt, storage and dispatch of all materials purchased/requisitioned for stock and to our customer requirements
  • Schedule deliveries to our Customers by our own vehicles or outside carriers to achieve a 24/48 hr delivery service by the most cost-effective method.
  • Receive, inspect and unload supplier deliveries
  • Oversee the team with picking, loading and dispatch of goods
  • Receive and process customer/supplier returns
  • Control the use of the warehouse to ensure maximum use of space, keeping stock at optimum levels
  • Maintain company standards in line with O-licence & Health & Safety procedure
  • Cost effective scheduling of deliveries to customers via Company vehicles or outside carriers to achieve a 24/48 hour delivery service
  • Ensuring paperwork is processed onto the system accurately and timely
  • Stock-taking
  • Giving instruction to via delegation and supervising performance of warehouse colleagues to ensure tasks are completed effectively and within timescales required
 

Do you have the correct profile?
Firstly, you must be an experienced logistics supervisor with a minimum of 1 year spent supervising a small team of warehouse and driving staff within a fast-paced distribution environment. You will have a stable employment track-record and have a solid grasp of tachograph regulation and EU driver hour’s legislation. You must also hold valid forklift (reach & counterbalance) licences. You will be expected to act as a first-aider at work (again training can be provided). It is imperative that you have a strong work-ethic with a flexible ‘can do’ attitude. Also crucial is a strong customer-focus with the ability to interact positively with our customers. First and foremost you will be an able and dependable warehouse person in your own right, not afraid to get your hands dirty, but happy to lead from the front, and motivate your team to do a good job.
