Macfarlane Group PLC is the UK’s largest packaging distributor and we are seeking to urgently hire an experienced Class 2 Driver to join our established logistics team based in Reading. The HGV Class 2 Driver role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join our business. We welcome applications from motivated and enthusiastic individuals who are genuinely customer focussed, proven team-players with good interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a flexible approach and strong work ethic. Our drivers shall work 40 hours a week across Monday to Friday only (no weekends). You will be working as an integral part of our regional logistics team, undertaking general logistics duties (including some regular assistance within the warehouse itself) and regular multi-drop across the Reading and wider Berkshire region.
HGV Class 2 Key Duties
Reporting to the logistics manager, key duties and responsibilities of the role include:
- Multi-drop deliveries in the local area
- Ensuring a first class level of customer service
- Daily vehicle inspections
- Ensuring compliance with Driver legislation
- Supporting loading and unloading of vehicles
- Receive, inspect and unload supplier deliveries
- Pick, load and dispatch goods
- Operate MHE as necessary
- Maintenance of vehicles
Do you have the correct profile?
Firstly, you must be an experienced Class 2 Driver with the appropriate driving licence and at least one year’s experience of multi-drop driving commercially. Ideally, you will also have a forklift reach & counterbalance licence (training can be provided if not).
It is imperative that you have a strong work-ethic with a flexible ‘can do’ attitude.
Also crucial is a strong customer-focus with the ability to interact positively with our customers on a daily basis when making your drops (acting as an ambassador for Macfarlane). As a team player you will also be happy to assist with general warehouse duties on occasions alongside your core driver responsibilities.
