The Company
We, the UK’s largest packaging distributor have an exciting opportunity for an experienced warehouse operative to join our Horsham team and train to obtain their Class 2 LGV licence.  We are a committed equal opportunities employer that champions ‘dignity in the workplace’. Our focus is to provide customers with fully integrated and innovative packaging solutions, augmented by outstanding customer service. As a leading distributor, logistics is at the very heart of what we do best. Welcoming dedicated new people into our business who have a passion for delivering excellence is key to our continued success.

The Warehouse Operative/Trainee Driver role
With being an integral part of our local logistics team, this role will work predominantly full-time within the local warehouse at Horsham but with hours given over to training to secure your LGV (class 2/C) licence (training costs fully funded by our company). Once you have your licence, you will also be expected to provide absence cover for the local driving team, undertaking daily multi-drop deliveries, as required. Your fellow team members are extremely self-motivated, enthusiastic and customer focused. We value a strong work ethic/flexibility. Our local logistics team works 45 hours each week, from Monday to Friday (we don’t work evenings or weekends).

  • Accept deliveries from suppliers, ensuring goods are stored in the appropriate location.
  • Pick, load and despatch goods to the customer base in a timely manner
  • Receive and process customer or supplier returns
  • Participate in stock counts, when necessary.
  • Once LGV trained, when required to cover driving routes, to undertake multiple customer deliveries in the local region (average of 1-15 drops daily)
  • Once LGV trained, as required to drive company vehicles and operate Company equipment in a safe and professional manner in accordance with Company policies, procedures & legislation
  • Load your vehicle on return and secure load for safety
  • Provide a professional driving service, to meet & exceed customer expectations
  • Always comply with the vehicle security and standing procedure
  • Carry out vehicle and auxiliary equipment checks (reporting defects) prior to the operation of any vehicle
  • Report any delivery issues or exceptions in a timely manner
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety of themselves and others, adhering to safe working practices and the Health & Safety at Work Act, including accident, incident and damage reporting
Do you have the correct profile?
We welcome your application if you are an experienced  warehouse/logistics operative who is keen to secure their LGV (class 2/C) licence. You will ultimately be prepared to work predominantly full time within the warehouse, but when trained, equally happy to jump in a truck (sometimes at short notice) and undertake deliveries when our main driving team need covering. You will ideally already hold a forklift reach & counterbalance licence (training can be provided if not). As mentioned, in line with our team’s approach, you will also have a strong work-ethic with a flexible ‘can do’ attitude. Finally, as you will on occasion be acting as an ambassador for our business when making customer deliveries, it is vital that you have effective customer-facing skills.

The Package
We provide a competitive basic starting salary along with a performance/profit linked bonus scheme and a flexible employee benefits scheme that includes: 25 days annual leave (rising to 27 days with service plus all bank holidays), contributory pension & employee discount scheme.
