The European Procurement Manager Role
Reporting to the European Development Director, this is very much a progressive role, for an experienced buyer of Packaging Materials to step up to the next level in their career development. Whereby you will not only be expected to support the procurement strategy for the European division, but ultimately hire and manage your own small team as the workload increases. An exciting opportunity to be part of our significant growth plans, you will be required to manage and develop the European supply base to deliver maximum service for lowest cost and in line with KPI requirements, this whilst ensuring that all purchasing transactions are carried out in the most cost effective manner. We envisage that this role will grow significantly in line with the anticipated business growth across the coming few years.



European Procurement Manager Key Responsibilities
To provide full support to the European Development directorate with the overall management of the procurement process to include implement category management strategies
  • Strategic focus on the achievement of ‘Procurement Best Practise’.
  • Support the pan-European procurement strategy utilising procurement tools where appropriate
  • Ensure a robust and competitive supply chain via supplier management & evaluations
  • Develop & implement category management strategies for designated product category
  • Where appropriate, collate the spending power of the Group to enhance leverage and deliver costs commensurate with scale.
  • Liaise closely with both the Procurement Director and European Development Director to ensure delivery of the European procurement strategy and ensure delivery of the required Procurement performance for the directorate.
  • Working closely with the European Development team in relation to planning & execution of new business projects
  • Monitor and manage KPI results to achieve targets set by the business
  • Daily checks of SRM and Purchase Query Log and action accordingly
  • Daily PI checks in accordance with PI procedures and ensuring Logistics can support stock checks
  • Negotiate with supply base on price and volume to improve margin and stock holding
  • Manage European supply base to ensure quality and service are monitored and measured on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that all purchasing transactions are carried out in the most cost effective manner
  • Mange tender processes to maximise savings and/or GP
  • Manage warehouse stock levels to make the most efficient use of space and working capital
  • Ensure supplier issues are managed to successful resolution and are communicated to Development team
  • Ensure all procurement tasks are covered and completed as required
  • Carry out supplier reviews and audits in accordance with suppliers spend level, performance and risk assessment.
  • Monitor supply base for new innovation and potential new suppliers, sharing new product development & innovation within the directorate
  • Effectively manage damaged, redundant and aged stock being aware of profit impact
 
 
Do you have the correct profile?
In order to execute this role successfully, you will be fluent in English, German (both languages are essential, French would also be advantageous). You will have a minimum of two years working within the packaging sector and ideally have good understanding of the German & Benelux packaging markets. Additional you will be well organised, tenacious, adaptable, work well under pressure, and be a good communicator at all levels within our organisation and with key stakeholders in global organisations. As mentioned this is a development role which will require a blend of both ‘hands on’ tactical work but also the vision and ambition to become involved in shaping strategy and hiring and managing a small team. We also consider important that the successful applicant will have strong project-management skills and customer facing/client interaction experience.
