The Assistant Buyer Role  
Reporting to the Retail Procurement Manager, the Assistant Buyer role will support the National Ecommerce, 3PL and New Business team whilst upholding the company wide National procurement strategy. Your appointment to this position will be integral to the overall success of our business, as you will be instrumental in helping to coordinate projects for our key customers to improve productivity, provide cost savings and environmentally friendly alternatives. This will be a varied role with a wide span of duties and direct involvement with a range of internal & external stakeholders. It is a full-time role working 37.5 hours a week Monday-Friday.
 
Assistant Buyer Key Duties
  • Sourcing and negotiating with existing suppliers, challenging prices where relevant
  • Working closely with the Sales team on projects
  • Undertake cost savings exercises
  • Request & Manage Sample, Technical Drawing & Artwork sign-off
  • Carrying out supplier benchmarking activities
  • Place Purchase orders when required
  • Expedite deliveries where required
  • Support the sales teams with any supply or product related issues
  • Ensuring supplies adhere to quality, service, and best practise initiatives
  • Reporting and statistical analysis
  • Upholding procurement strategy
  • Liaise with relevant UK sites where applicable and concerning stock holding volumes and space requirements
  • Undertaking administration activities
Do you have the correct profile?
We welcome your application if you have a minimum of 1-year commercial buying experience. This would be preferable as we would hope that you will already have gained exposure to most key duties mentioned above. Ours is a fast-paced sales led distribution business, so although identical experience isn’t essential, any obvious synergy would be useful. You will naturally have strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to, at times, perform under pressure and fulfil exacting timeframes. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills that will help you to work effectively with a wide range of colleagues and departments and an analytical approach. You may have already gained CIPS accreditation via previous studies but if not, we do as a business offer a pathway to do so. A UK driving licence would also be favourable as there will be the need for occasional travel within this role.
