The Company
Macfarlane Design & Manufacture are seeking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager to assume responsibility for our Grantham based manufacturing site. Our specialist manufacturing division designs and manufactures bespoke protective packaging solutions. Our customers are UK wide and span several key verticals including: Medical, Defence, Electronics, Industrial and Aerospace.
The Operations Manager Role
This role constitutes an excellent opportunity to develop our skilled and semi-skilled workforce to deliver a positive cultural change within the workplace. Part of the Senior Management Team, reporting into the Managing Director and responsible for 65 employees covering Production Management, Section Leaders, Shop floor, Planning, Maintenance, Warehouse & Logistics roles.

- Exceptional personnel management and development skills
- Ability to perform under pressure and forge good working relationships
- Strong decisive and motivational leadership and problem solving skills
- Set and deliver KPI’s
- Commercially astute and customer focused
- Profound knowledge and ability to adapt to new industries (packaging)
- Have extensive knowledge of production planning, processes (MRP) and manufacturing techniques and applications (Lean, 5s, SMED, TQM etc.)
- Proven track record of continuous improvement
- Setting and reviewing budgets and managing costs
- Ability to introduce and maintain planned preventative maintenance programs
- Overseeing inventory, warehousing, and distribution of goods
- Excellent presentational, reporting, communications, and computer skills
- Ability to carry out project management programs and capex justifications
- Develop methods to deliver HSQE improvements
