The Procurement Manager Role
Joining our local management team, the procurement manager role will support the site at which you are based whilst upholding the company wide National procurement strategy. You shall be responsible for managing the local procurement team, leading by example whilst remaining ‘hands-on’ in day-to-day supplier management and engagement as well as leading on key projects. This appointment is therefore integral to the success of the business, with the successful candidate not only managing and developing the regional supplier base, but also providing leadership for the local procurement function.
 
Procurement Manager Key Duties
  • Management of local procurement team, including all coaching, training, and development, allocating workload appropriately
  • Management & development of supplier base to deliver maximum service for lowest cost and in line with KPI requirements
  • Ensuring the site’s purchasing transactions are conducted in the most cost-effective manner
  • Ensure effective communication of the purchasing strategy throughout the site
  • Management and responsibility of the ‘On Time In Full measurement’ for site
  • Liaising with central procurement teams to ensure site strategy reflects that of the wider company
  • Effective management of any tender processes
  • Undertake reporting & statistical analysis in relation to new product lines
Do you have the correct profile?
We welcome applications from experienced procurement professionals who have a minimum of 18 months experience in direct staff/team supervision. You will ideally be accustomed to managing a small team, prioritising ever changing workloads within a fast-paced environment. This will have already given you exposure to most of the key duties listed above. Most importantly, you will have a strong yet effective leadership style, commercial acumen, and effective communication & negotiation skills. Performing under pressure and to exacting timeframes will come naturally to you whilst you will pride yourself on your ability to forge and maintain healthy stakeholder relationships. Please note, we do also require applicants to live within a sensible daily commute of our Avonmouth site.
