Purchasing Administrator (Apprenticeship)

Macfarlane Group PLC is the UK’s largest packaging distributor and we are seeking to hire an apprentice Purchasing Administrator to join the established procurement team at our site in Avonmouth. The Purchasing Administrator Role
Working as part of the local procurement team, this role will support a couple of regional sites as well as the national procurement strategy. This role is integral to the success of the business, with the successful candidate providing a range of support with administrative duties on a daily basis. Offering 30 hours a week across Monday-Friday (we can be flexible regarding start/finish times to secure the right candidate), this role will be hired to on an apprenticeship basis whereby the successful applicant will be entering into an apprenticeship training programme in order to attain a Business Administration (either level 2 or 3) accreditation. This role is therefore ideally suited to someone who is keen to develop a career path into the procurement/purchasing or administrative arena. Full ‘on the job’ training and mentoring will be provided ongoing within the role, all of this with a view to hopefully securing a permanent full time role upon completion of the 12 month apprenticeship programme.
Purchasing Administrator Key Duties
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Do you have the correct profile?
The ideal candidate will be keen to secure an office based role involved in providing administrative support. Some form of prior office administration experience would be advantageous. Prior experience of working within purchasing/procurement whilst of course helpful isn’t at all essential. Applicants will have an A-C GCSE or equivalent qualification in Maths & English or be willing to improve their grades to reach this standard as part of the 12 month training criteria. As this is an apprenticeship role, applicants must be comfortable in committing to a training plan that will involve documenting evidence of learning, meeting regularly at the workplace with tutors and completing some assignments in line with deadlines. We ask for good general computer literacy (MS Word, Excel) accompanied by strong communication and interpersonal skills supported by strong attention to detail and the willingness to learn new skills. Applicants must also be willing to work 30 hours a week across five days a week (Monday to Friday)

- Process Purchase orders
- Generate reports for analysis
- Process supplier quotes
- Receipt purchase order reception notes
- Process supplier returns
- Assist Procurement team with admin duties.
- Resolve invoice queries
- Maintain good in schedules
- Monitor and manage purchasing mailbox
